Year 3 have started DANCE this term

In Dance today we learned about the dance elements: relationships and space.

We also learned the term Tempo and moved around the dance space slowly and then faster and then slowly again.

We warmed up our muscles to avoid injury.

We used body gestures to communicate ‘Hello’ working on our own, then with a partner, then in a big group. We learned about our dance space and that we need to be aware of each other and not bump into others.

We then imagined we were inside a mirror and performed a number of gestures and movements that our partner had to mirror/copy. Our teacher had to guess which student was the leader.

Then our teacher was the leader and we mirrored a whole routine to ‘Blame it on the Boogie’.

We then all got a turn at being the leader and danced to ‘Mama Mia’.

We are loving Dance lessons!

One laptop per child in Year 3

In Year 3, a laptop was distributed to each student. We love learning on our new laptops. We explore maths problems at Mathletics and Studyladder. We have started creating folders in my documents to store some of our class work. In 3S we typed our very own letter to our grandparents on Microsoft Word, all about our first few weeks of Year 3. We have so much more to learn using our laptops. The journey has just begun!!!!!

Changes in our school in the last 100 years

We discovered that our school started with both boys and girls, 1 teacher and just a few students. Most of those students were borders and they travelled home by train only for the school holidays. We used the smartboard to search for photos of our school then and now. Now our school has only girls and many of us.
